ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS
SUNSET MARINA
Sunset Marina is owned by the City of Rock Island and professionally managed by F3 Marina. Located in Sunset Park at 31st Avenue and the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois, our beautiful harbor is surrounded by 250 acres of woods and a tranquil, secluded park with jogging paths, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The spacious marina boasts 219 slips for seasonal, monthly, and overnight docking; slips range from 16 feet to 60 feet in length.
Our fuel dock, located at the east end of the harbor on Lake Potter, offers diesel and non-ethanol fuel along with free pump-outs. Sunset Marina offers restrooms with showers and coin-operated laundry facilities, and a 35-ton Marine Travelift is on-site to support the needs of our valued patrons.

“A big shout out to the crew, Denise, Joe and, of course, Chad, for doing a tremendous job through one of the most challenging years that I can recall and I’ve been there for the better part of 50 years. Most of us were leery at first, but they proved us wrong!!! Great job!”

5 DAY WEATHER FORECAST
Hello! Spring is finally here, and the 2025 season is just a few days away! Here’s a few things to think about in the days ahead:
- Our season opens April 1st. At this time, anyone who has a completed contract, proper insurance documentation, and payment (at least 1/3rd of your balance for those on payment arrangements) can be launched and begin to occupy their slip. We will be conducting dock walks to see who is checking in on the daily, but we’d appreciate it if you’d give us a heads up before going in so we can make sure you are good to go!
- If you are looking to get on the lift schedule, give us a call! We are available to launch you with the travel lift Monday through Friday, with no lifts being scheduled past 230p (lift operator leaves at 3p). We are currently wide open on scheduling, but times do tend to fill up quick at the start of the season, so let us know when you’d like to launch!
- The fuel dock will be open Monday through Friday, 9a-4p, until the middle of May, when we will open for weekend hours! The current gas price is $3.949/gal (non-ethanol) and $4.239/gal (diesel). We offer free pump-outs for your holding tanks, and will be stocking the shack with snacks, drinks, and accessories for your trips!
- As always, we’d like to remind everyone that a clean boat doesn’t tend to attract the local wildlife (mainly Raccoons). Please be courteous and keep your vessels and slips free from open trash and debris (particularly, food and snack trash)- we have dumpsters and trash cans all over the property to place your rubbish, and they are picked up weekly. Do not keep bags of cans on your boats- they are a huge pain to fish out of the water when a raccoon tears through them, and we have recycling bins for those! There is also water running to every slip in the marina if you need to hose down your decks (hoses not necessarily included, but not usually hard to find if you don’t have one). Help keep our harbor clean!
- Please, take your pets off of the docks to relieve themselves. No one likes to walk past a power pedestal that smells like urine, and our staff definitely does not want to put their knees in it when working on any issues at a slip. Doubly true for a #2. We provide “doggie bags” at the 300-dock dumpster fencing and along the shoreline between 500 and 800 dock- please pickup & discard anything they leave behind.
- We’d also like to note that after 11pm, noise levels in the marina need to be kept at a courteous level. We received complaints last year (from customers and transient boaters alike) about loud music into the late-night hours. We will let any offenders know if there is an issue, but after a few warnings, you may be asked to leave the harbor. Please be mindful of others when occupying your slips in the evenings.
- One more thing — we noticed last year that there were more people than expected that were using insufficient dock lines to secure their vessel. Nylon cord (the main offender) does not have the strength to keep your boat secured in the event of high winds or rough water, and is incredibly difficult to undo when it is tightened up or tied incorrectly. Please be sure to use dock lines that are of adequate strength and size to secure your boats. While we do our best to keep an eye on all vessels during and after storms, it’s hard to catch everything with as many slips as we have, and you are responsible for any damages your vessel may cause if it breaks free.
We will have more news on happenings around the marina as the season gets going. We hope you enjoy your stay at Sunset Marina, and can’t wait to see you on the water! ... See MoreSee Less
